Issues at home
Issues at home seem to be verbal, physical and sexual abuse, and has been made worrisome because of the destruction of the nuclear and extended family structures.
Gang initiation
Gang initiation happens one of two ways: Men or boys are "beaten in," enduring a beating to prove how tough they are and that they are worthy of joining a gang. Women or girls are "sexed in," or show loyalty by having sex with several gang members. This "sexing in" might be occurring over the period of hours to days that these young girls go missing. maybe someone familiar with the happenings can confirm in the comments below.
Is this regional???
Interestingly the Jamaican Gleaner newspaper is today carrying a news headline, 24 Children Reunited With Families After Missing Reports. National Children's Registry says data from the Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force show that the children were reported missing between September and the start of this month. The children ranged between age 11 and 17.
Is anthing being done for these missing teens???
Should these children to receive psycho-social intervention and other services? Do we have the resources?
